Love the colours, even enjoy the slight chill in the morning.\u00a0 Here is my not very profound contribution-a response to today&#8217;s cold morning:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Floorboards shock my toes.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Winter chill plays &#8216;hide and seek&#8217;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Soon it will be &#8216;he&#8217;. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Yes, it will soon be winter.\u00a0 Feels as though we have been\u00a0 hibernating BEFORE winter, doesn&#8217;t it?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I often share a useless fact at the beginning of a service.\u00a0 We are WAY BEHIND so here are a few:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The sound a camel makes is called nuzzling.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The size of your foot is approximately the size of your forearm (careful if you test this one!)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8216;Papparazzi&#8217; means buzzing mosquitos in Italian.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Rats can tell the difference between two human languages (not sure which two-and how do they test it?)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Here is a story I found on-line that made me stop and think (and not just because it was about dogs!):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8216;A shop owner placed a sign above his door that said: \u201cPuppies For Sale.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Signs like this always have a way of attracting young children, and to no surprise, a boy saw the sign and approached the owner;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cHow much are you going to sell the puppies for?\u201d he asked.The store owner replied, \u201cAnywhere from $30 to $50.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The little boy pulled out some change from his pocket. \u201cI have $2.37,\u201d he said. \u201cCan I please look at them?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The shop owner smiled and whistled. Out of the kennel came Lady, who ran down the aisle of his shop followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>One puppy was lagging considerably behind. Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy and said, \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with that little dog?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The shop owner explained that the veterinarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered it didn\u2019t have a hip socket. It would always limp. It would always be lame.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The little boy became excited. \u201cThat is the puppy that I want to buy.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The shop owner said, \u201cNo, you don\u2019t want to buy that little dog. If you really want him, I\u2019ll just give him to you.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The little boy got quite upset. He looked straight into the store owner\u2019s eyes, pointing his finger, and said;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t want you to give him to me. That little dog is worth every bit as much as all the other dogs and I\u2019ll pay full price. In fact, I\u2019ll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents a month until I have him paid for.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u00a0The shop owner countered, \u201cYou really don\u2019t want to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the other puppies.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>To his surprise, the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace. He looked up at the shop owner and softly replied, \u201cWell, I don\u2019t run so well myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Well said!\u00a0 It reminded me a little of when we adopted our blind dog Harry, from The Lost Dog&#8217;s Home.\u00a0 Because he was deemed to be a senior (over 7 years) he was very cheap.\u00a0 I paid full price, telling the staff that seniors are as precious as the young. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8216;Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>your faithfulness to the clouds.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>your judgements are like the great deep;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>How precious is your steadfast love, O God!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.'(Psalm 36: 5-&amp;)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Blessings and love<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Barbara<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<pre class=\"moz-quote-pre\"><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Faith Pals, I know some of you read yesterday&#8217;s sermon.\u00a0 Here is Rob Weir&#8217;s haiku contribution: Grand Designs: Though we are shut in Heaven is Home, where we will Never be shut out.
