{"id":3211,"date":"2020-03-26T11:33:26","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T00:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.leighmoorunitingchurch.org.au\/?p=3211"},"modified":"2023-05-20T20:27:27","modified_gmt":"2023-05-20T10:27:27","slug":"holy-rest-26-03-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.leighmoorunitingchurch.org.au\/?p=3211","title":{"rendered":"Holy Rest 26-03-2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Hello Faith Pals\/Angels\/members of the congregation,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Hang in there!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I have been taking our blind dog Harry, for some of the drives into Epworth hospital for David&#8217;s dialysis treatment.\u00a0 I like to have company for the trip home, and Harry isn&#8217;t a &#8216;back seat&#8217; driver!\u00a0 (Actually, he sits in the front-not for the view, but because it is a more comfortable seat, and I can pat him when the traffic lights turn red).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>He loves the car trip.\u00a0 The motion, the rhythm sends him off to sleep.\u00a0 When our son was little, I would often strap him into his car seat and go for a drive-it would always calm him down, and he would usually fall asleep during the trip.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reminded me of God.\u00a0 If we rest in God&#8217;s arms, we can be at peace, despite all the turmoil that is going on around us.\u00a0 If we listen&#8230;we can perhaps even hear God&#8217;s heart beat.\u00a0 It may be our heart beat, but our hearts are connected to the One who made them!\u00a0 God is bigger than us, much bigger.\u00a0 As you reflect on your life&#8217;s journey, and the number of times you got through tough situations, with God&#8217;s strength, Christ&#8217;s hand, and the Spirit&#8217;s peace&#8230;rest in God&#8217;s lap, tell God how you are feeling, and let the Divine soothe your troubled hearts, and brush away your fears and worries, as gently as a loving parent brushes back the hair from a sobbing child.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Here is a prayer which echoes my thoughts.\u00a0 It is kept in the Bible that is on my bedside table.
